6. Frequent Performance
Opportunities
Music is a performing art, and we strive to provide as many opportunities for our students as possible. Every parent wants to know how their child is doing and if they are really progressing. The best way for a parent to understand if their investment in lessons is really worth it is to have their child participate in a recital. In December and May, all of our students are given the opportunity to perform on the big stage in our biannual recitals. We don't pressure our students to perform. We only give them the opportunity.
In addition to individual opportunities to perform as a soloist at recitals our orchestras will also perform large concerts in December and May. These incredible concerts give students a chance to get dressed up, perform as a group and keep having fun!
5. Award Winning Orchestras
Starting in 2026 our director Brad Bohn will be starting the Mesa Children's Orchestra. This orchestra will require students to have a private teacher whether they take at MMA or elsewhere. This ensures that the students coming to rehearsals are getting one-on-one help once a week from a qualified professional. This is a pattern never before tried accept for our sister school in Temecula, California (www.temeculaconservatory.com.)
Brad and his family moved to Phoenix in June of 2025 leaving the three orchestras in California in the capable hands of other amazing conductors in order to begin the same amazing orchestra system in Mesa. Brad has taken our top orchestra to Carnegie Hall in 2019 receiving a gold rating for his performance. He recently took our top orchestra to Austria and Prague on tour in April of 2024. It starts with a children's orchestra and then grows into two and then three orchestras of different skill levels. 7. International Travel
As our orchestras grow in Mesa we will plan trips to perform overseas. In our California location starting this year we travelled with our top orchestra to Austria and Czechia where our students experienced performing in cathedrals in Salztburg and Vienna and the national music museum in Prague. Families of our students joined us on this excursion and experienced seeing their own children performing in these incredible places. It was such an incredible experience that we are already planning our next international trip to Ireland in 2026. We have students playing violin, viola, cello, bass, piano and harp joining us on these incredible trips.
We are also planing a solo trip for students wanting to travel to Europe and experience performing as a soloist in these venues.
There are no other music studios in Arizona that offer these type of musical family travel experiences. Mesa Music Academy is the place for aiming high with your musical goals.
8. Excellence In All Things
In 2019 our California orchestra performed on stage at Carnegie Hall where we were awarded a Gold Rating for our performance. It was the first time for us to perform on stage at Carnegie and just six years earlier we had started with just eight students in a beginning violin class out of our home in Temecula. In just six short years we were able to build up a system of excellence to where the Carnegie Hall Spring Festival accepted our audition to perform. We will be doing the same in Mesa but at a faster pace, as this time we will not be starting from scratch, but with lots of experience. Plan on a trip to Carnegie Hall in just the next couple of years!
